Julien Alfred of Saint Lucia has secured bronze in the women’s 60 metres at the World Indoor Athletics Championships in Poland.

Alfred, who was among the favourites heading into the final, had a slower start out of the blocks but produced a strong finish to close the gap on the leaders.

She stopped the clock at 7.03 seconds.

Italy’s Zaynab Dosso won the race in 7.00 seconds, while American Jacious Sears took silver in a season’s best 7.03 seconds, edging Alfred on the dip at the line. Race officials had to separate Sears and Alfred down to the thousandths of a second looking at the photo finish.

Alfred, who won the event in 2024, had to settle for third this time around.

Jamaica’s Brianna Lyston and Jonielle Smith finished fourth and fifth respectively.

Poland’s Ewa Swoboda was sixth, followed by Great Britain’s Dina Asher-Smith in seventh and Luxembourg’s Patrizia van der Weken.
