Grenada’s government is seeking to reassure tourism partners and travellers that the Caribbean nation remains a safe destination following a recent increase to the United States’ travel advisory.
On January 5, the US State Department raised its travel alert for Grenada to Level Two due to crime.
In a statement, the government said the country continues to maintain a strong record of public safety, social stability, and effective law enforcement.
Authorities noted that Grenada consistently ranks among the safest countries in the region, citing an estimated crime rate of about four incidents per 100,000 people.
“This reflects the nation’s strong commitment to public safety, proactive policing, and community engagement. Visitors and residents alike enjoy a secure environment that supports Grenada’s reputation as a peaceful and welcoming destination,” the government said.
The statement added that the Royal Grenada Police Force maintains robust systems for rapid response and demonstrates strong crime solvency and institutional capacity to ensure continued public safety.
“These capabilities underscore Grenada’s readiness and ability to safeguard the interests of all who call our nation home or choose to visit,” it said.
Officials also noted that many US citizens live, work, study, and invest in the tri-island state without incident.
As a major tourism destination, Grenada said it remains committed to providing a secure and welcoming environment for travellers.
The tourism sector operates under established safety protocols, and local communities are known for their friendliness toward visitors, the statement said.
