Grenada’s ruling party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has sought to clear what it describes as public confusion regarding the US State Department’s decision to pause immigrant visa processing.
NDC’s Public Relations Officer, Ron Redhead, in a statement said the temporary suspension applies specifically to immigrant visas, which are intended for persons seeking to migrate permanently to the United States.
He noted non-immigrant visas, such as visitor, student, work, and exchange visas, are not affected.
Redhead went on to state that this pause will take effect on January 21 and will remain in place temporarily while a review is conducted.
He added that this does not represent a ban, nor does it affect individuals travelling to the United States for short-term purposes.
