Dominica has removed the visa requirements for citizens of the Dominican Republic entering to enter the English speaking island for stays of up to 180 days.

The decision to remove visas requirements for Dominican Republic citizens was taken at the Cabinet meeting on January 20 and will take effect from February 1.

To give legal effect to the move, Cabinet has also approved amendments to the Visa (Exemptions) Regulations.

The approval follows an announcement by Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit during his New Year Conversation with journalists, where he indicated that the Government would review Dominica’s visa entry requirements as part of a broader strategy to support population growth, boost economic activity and strengthen regional cooperation, while remaining consistent with national security and immigration frameworks.

A statement from the Cabinet said the review of visa entry requirements is ongoing, and decisions regarding other countries will be announced as the process continues.
