Caribbean teams experienced mixed fortunes as the 2026 CONCACAF Men’s U-17 Qualifiers continued on February 5, with matches played across Groups A, B, C, D and E.

Trinidad and Tobago secure narrow win

Hosts Trinidad and Tobago secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Saint Martin in Group A at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain.

The decisive moment came in the 73rd minute when Adasa Richardson converted a penalty to give the home side the win and their first three points of the campaign.

Earlier in the group, Sint Maarten suffered a heavy 10-0 defeat to Mexico. 

Mexico took control early, with Adán Sanchez scoring three goals within a 10-minute period to establish a strong lead. Mexicans added further goals in the second half, including another hat trick from Alberto Cisneros, while Luis Trujillo also scored twice.

Dominica and Anguilla fall in Group B

In Group B, Dominica went down 6-1 to Panama in Panama City. 

Dominica’s lone goal came in the 31st minute when Carlique Prevost converted from the penalty spot. However, Panama maintained control throughout the contest and led 4-1 by half-time before extending their advantage in the second half.

Anguilla also suffered defeat, losing 3-0 to Nicaragua. 

Nicaragua struck early with Nefstali Campos scoring in the 12th minute, before Sander Peralta added another goal one minute later. Peralta later completed his brace with a header in the 72nd minute.

Grenada find consolation as Antigua and Barbuda fall

Grenada were beaten 5-1 by Haiti in their Group C opener in Guatemala City. 

Cogan Dowden provided the highlight for Grenada with a long-range goal in the 25th minute, but Haiti responded with a strong attacking display. Marvenly Exilas scored three times for Haiti, while Emerson Laïssé and Macerate Prophète also found the back of the net.

Antigua and Barbuda were also on the losing end in Group C, falling 2-0 to Guatemala. After a scoreless first half, Guatemala broke the deadlock in the 47th minute through Patrick Arana before Jeffery Interiano added a second goal five minutes later.

British Virgin Islands and Turks and Caicos concede heavily

The British Virgin Islands endured a difficult outing in Group D, losing 12-0 to Puerto Rico. Puerto Rico produced a dominant performance with eight different players scoring and six goals coming in each half.

Turks and Caicos also suffered a heavy defeat, losing 9-0 to Costa Rica. Costa Rica established control early with six first-half goals and maintained their attacking momentum throughout the match.

Saint Kitts and Nevis and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines beaten in Group E

Saint Kitts and Nevis were defeated 5-0 by the Dominican Republic at the Arnos Vale Sporting Complex in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. 

The Dominican Republic scored twice in the first half and added three more goals late in the match to secure the victory.

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines also faced a tough challenge, losing 8-0 to the United States at the same venue. 

Aaron Medina scored three first-half goals for the United States, who held a four-goal lead at the break before adding four more goals in the second half.
