Antigua and Barbuda and Saint-Martin have entered into a non-binding agreement aimed at improving air connectivity across the Eastern Caribbean.
The Letter of Intent, signed on April 1 in Antigua, outlines plans for closer collaboration between the two territories to strengthen regional transport links and expand travel options.
Prime Minister Gaston Browne told Cabinet that both Antigua and Barbuda and Saint-Martin are strategically positioned as aviation gateways within the sub-region, and that enhanced cooperation could help improve mobility and support economic activity, including tourism.
The agreement provides a framework for continued dialogue among key stakeholders, including airports, tourism authorities and regional airlines, with the goal of developing more reliable and efficient air services.
The document was also signed by Louis Mussington, president of Saint-Martin’s Territorial Council.
Cabinet welcomed the initiative, noting its potential to boost regional connectivity and support sustainable tourism development, as Caribbean governments continue to explore ways to improve intra-regional travel.
Officials said the move forms part of broader efforts by Antigua and Barbuda to strengthen its position as a key hub for travel and commerce in the region.
