Natasha Grey-Brookes has resigned as political leader of the People’s Action Movement (PAM), with effect from 31 July, as the party seeks to strengthen its campaign ahead of the upcoming general election.

Grey-Brookes, who became the party’s political leader in 2024 after succeeding Shawn Richards, was previously one of PAM’s deputy political leaders.

In a statement issued on Monday, the party’s National Executive said Grey-Brookes would continue to play a key role in the campaign, including efforts to secure victory in the St Christopher One constituency and help the party form the next government.

The party said the decision followed “careful consultation and thoughtful reflection” on its electoral strategy and the need to maximise its chances at the polls.

Grey-Brookes described her resignation as a “strategic realignment” intended to strengthen the party’s campaign and allow her to focus on what is expected to be a highly competitive election.

“At this critical time in our nation’s history, every decision must be guided by what gives our Party the strongest opportunity to earn the confidence of the people and to bring about the change ourcountry so desperately needs,” she said.

She said stepping down as political leader would allow her to devote her full attention to helping secure victory across constituencies while continuing to work alongside the party’s leadership.

The National Executive thanked Grey-Brookes for her service as political leader, praising her commitment, leadership and contributions during what it described as challenging periods for the party.

It said she would remain an integral member of the campaign team, helping to shape policy, engage supporters and contribute to the party’s efforts to bring about a change in government.

PAM has begun the constitutional process of electing a new political leader, with the transition expected to be completed in the coming weeks.

The party said it remained united and focused on presenting voters with what it described as a credible, energetic and united team ready to address the country’s challenges.
