Grenada Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell is leading a delegation on an overseas mission to Spain and Qatar from August 13 to 19, with discussions expected to focus on investment, energy, education and international cooperation.

The mission began with engagements in Spain before Mitchell travels to Qatar for an official visit.

While in Qatar, Mitchell is expected to hold high-level meetings with ministers, senior government officials and other key stakeholders.

The government said the visit is aimed at strengthening Grenada’s international partnerships and advancing strategic cooperation in areas linked to the country’s national development goals.

Among the key areas for discussion are funding support for Project Polaris, energy cooperation including renewable energy and hydrocarbons, and collaboration in sports and education.

The delegation will also discuss greater coordination on voting positions and engagement within multilateral institutions, as well as diplomatic exchanges, capacity-building initiatives, private sector development and investment cooperation.

Mitchell is being accompanied by Finance Minister Dennis Cornwall, Ambassador Andrea St Bernard, Damian Dolland and Consul General Ziya Rahaman.

During Mitchell’s absence, Lennox Andrews will serve as Acting Prime Minister until Mitchell returns to Grenada on August 19.
