John Briceno Prime Minister of Belize

BELMOPAN, Belize — Belize Prime Minister John Briceño has announced several changes to his Cabinet, including new ministerial responsibilities for several government officials.

The changes, announced on October 6, will see Michel Chebat take over as Minister of National Security, Energy and Ports.

Chebat previously served as Minister of Public Utilities, Energy, Logistics and E-Governance.

Ramon Cervantes has been appointed Minister of Public Utilities, Logistics and Solid Waste Management, moving up from his previous position as Minister of State in the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology.

Ramiro Ramirez will remain Minister of State in the Ministry of Sustainable Development, Climate Change and Solid Waste Management.

Osmond Martinez has been appointed Minister of Economic Transformation, having previously served as a Minister of State in the ministry.

Henry Charles Usher will take up the substantive position as Minister with responsibility for Enterprise.

Briceño also thanked Julius Espat for what he described as his “stellar work” while serving as interim Minister of Home Affairs.
