Four men have been arrested in connection with a Christmas Day shooting outside the Encore Lounge nightclub in St Thomas, US Virgin Islands.

In a statement issued on December 27, the Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD) said Kai Hendricks, Timori Bell, Shaqcoy Cheltenham and Deshan Monsanto were detained shortly after the incident, which occurred just before 5 am in the Subbase area.

Police said officers spotted a vehicle matching the description of one seen leaving the scene of the shooting and conducted a traffic stop. Bell, Cheltenham and Monsanto were detained at the scene, while Hendricks fled on foot before being apprehended by officers.

All four men were charged with multiple firearms-related offences, including constructive possession of a firearm, illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, reckless endangerment and illegal discharge of a firearm. Hendricks was also charged with evading arrest.

Bell, Cheltenham and Monsanto were unable to post bail and were booked, processed and remanded to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections pending an Advice of Rights hearing. Hendricks was also remanded after receiving medical treatment.

The investigation remains ongoing. Police are urging anyone with information related to the incident to contact 911 or the Office of the Police Chief.
