The Bahamas will gain new nonstop air service from Florida this summer, following an announcement by Breeze Airways that it will launch direct flights between Tampa and Nassau beginning June 11.
The twice-weekly service is expected to strengthen summer connectivity to The Bahamas and improve access from one of the country’s key United States feeder markets.
Tourism officials say the new route aligns with ongoing efforts to expand airlift and diversify gateways into the destination.
The Tampa–Nassau flights will provide travellers with a direct option to visit the capital during the peak summer travel season, while positioning Tampa as an additional access point for US visitors.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Investments and Aviation Chester Cooper said expanding nonstop air service remains central to the country’s tourism strategy.
“Expanding nonstop air service remains a core pillar of our tourism growth strategy, and this new route with Breeze Airways enhances access to Nassau while opening additional opportunities for visitation, investment, and economic activity,” Cooper said. “As we continue to strengthen airlift from key US markets, partnerships like this ensure The Bahamas remains competitive, connected, and well-positioned for sustained growth.”
The new service makes Nassau Breeze Airways’ fourth international destination and signals continued airline confidence in The Bahamas as a year-round leisure market.
Breeze Airways, which operates a fleet of Airbus A220 aircraft, is known for providing direct flights to underserved markets and offering flexible fare options. The Tampa–Nassau route forms part of the airline’s wider summer expansion across the United States and the Caribbean.
