Canadian travellers will have a new way to get to The Bahamas following the launch of a new nonstop flight between Montréal and Nassau.

The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, Investments and Aviation announced Porter Airlines will commence flights on February 5, directly linking Quebec with the destination.

The service will operate three times weekly. The airline’s Embraer E195-E2 aircraft will operate all routes, featuring no middle seats, complimentary premium snacks, free Wi-Fi, and full beverage service in glassware.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Investments and Aviation, Chester Cooper, described the new service as part of the country’s ongoing effort to increase visitor arrivals from Canada.

“The commencement of Porter Airlines’ nonstop service from Montréal to Nassau reflects our continued focus on strengthening airlift from Canada,” Cooper said.

“Quebec is an important market for The Bahamas, and this direct connection makes it even easier for Canadian travellers to experience our beaches, culture, and warm Bahamian hospitality.”

Director General of the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, Investments and Aviation, Latia Duncombe, also highlighted the significance of the new route, noting that it expands travel options while supporting continued visitor growth from Eastern Canada.

“The introduction of Porter Airlines’ nonstop Montréal–Nassau service adds capacity and reflects ongoing interest from the Canadian market,” Duncombe said. “Expanding options for travellers supports steady growth while reinforcing Montréal’s role as a key gateway to The Bahamas.”

Tourism officials said the new flight strengthens accessibility to the destination during the peak winter travel season, when Canadian travellers typically seek warm-weather escapes.

With direct flights now operating from several Canadian cities, The Bahamas continues to position itself as a convenient and attractive option for visitors travelling from Canada.
