A 22-year-old Australian woman was injured in a shark attack while swimming off the coast of Andros on March 27, Bahamian police said.
The incident occurred in waters near Fresh Creek around 5:30 pm, where the woman was swimming in waist-deep water with family members when she was attacked.
According to police, the shark bit the victim on her right arm, causing severe injuries.
Officers responded to the report and later met the woman at a local clinic, where she was receiving treatment.
After initial care, she was transported to the airport and airlifted to New Providence for further medical attention.
Police said investigations into the incident are ongoing.
