SkyHigh Dominicana has expanded its Caribbean network with the launch of a new direct service between Santo Domingo and Paramaribo.

The Dominican Republic-based airline operated its inaugural flight on April 16, marking the start of regular service between the two destinations.

The aircraft was welcomed with a water cannon salute on arrival in Suriname, signalling the official launch of the route.

The new service will operate weekly on Tuesdays, connecting Las Américas International Airport in Santo Domingo with Johan Adolf Pengel International Airport in Paramaribo. The flight time is approximately three hours.

SkyHigh Dominicana is deploying an Embraer E190 aircraft on the route. Departures from Santo Domingo are scheduled for 3 pm, arriving in Paramaribo at 7 pm, while the return flight departs at 8 pm and lands at 10:30 pm.

The launch further expands the airline’s regional footprint. SkyHigh Dominicana currently operates flights to several Caribbean destinations, including Anguilla, Bonaire, Antigua, Cuba, Martinique, Guyana, St Kitts and St Thomas.

Suriname’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Business and Cooperation, Melvin Bouva, welcomed the development, describing it as a historic step following months of discussions with the airline.

He said the new connection is expected to strengthen ties between Suriname and the Dominican Republic in areas such as trade, tourism and cultural exchange.

To mark the launch, the airline is offering promotional fares for the route.
