Mt Plaisir Estate Hotel in Trinidad.

Two of Trinidad and Tobago’s most distinctive nature-focused tourism experiences have earned major global recognition from Tripadvisor, highlighting the destination’s growing appeal among travelers seeking authentic Caribbean experiences.

Mt Plaisir Estate Hotel in Grande Riviere has been awarded Tripadvisor’s Travellers’ Choice Best of the Best Award for 2026, placing it among the top one per cent of hotels worldwide.

Meanwhile, HADCO Experiences at Asa Wright Nature Centre received a Travellers’ Choice Award, ranking it among the top 10 per cent of attractions globally.

The awards are based on reviews and ratings submitted by travellers over the past year.

For Trinidad and Tobago, the recognition highlights a tourism product that is increasingly centred on nature, wildlife, and community-based experiences.

Set in the heart of Trinidad’s Northern Range rainforest, Asa Wright Nature Centre has long been regarded as one of the Caribbean’s premier birdwatching and eco-tourism destinations.

The 1,300-acre protected estate combines a luxury ecolodge experience with direct access to rainforest trails, waterfalls, and some of the region’s richest biodiversity.

Guests can wake to the sounds of tropical birds, spot hummingbirds from the lodge’s famous veranda, and explore a landscape home to hundreds of bird species, butterflies, mammals, and native flora.

HADCO Experiences, which manages the property, says the recognition reflects growing traveler demand for experiences that connect visitors with nature, culture, and local communities.

“This recognition is far deeper than the warm welcome and attentive staff. It is validation of a philosophy that is guiding our mission: tourism should leave a place better than it was found.”

On Trinidad’s remote northeastern coast, Mt Plaisir Estate Hotel has become one of the Caribbean’s most unique beachfront escapes.

Located in Grande Riviere, one of the world’s most important nesting sites for endangered leatherback turtles, the boutique property offers visitors a rare combination of beachfront relaxation and wildlife encounters.

During nesting season, guests can witness leatherback turtles emerging from the sea to lay their eggs on the beach, an experience that draws visitors from around the world.

The hotel’s 21 rooms overlook either the beach or the surrounding mountains, while ongoing conservation initiatives help protect the area’s fragile ecosystem.

HADCO Experiences has also worked with stakeholders to support turtle-friendly lighting in the community during nesting season.

The company says both properties are part of a broader regenerative tourism model that focuses not only on preserving destinations but helping them thrive.

“The future of tourism is not only about sustaining destinations. It is about helping them thrive,” the company said.

For travellers increasingly seeking meaningful experiences, the twin honours underscore what Trinidad and Tobago offers, unlike almost anywhere else in the Caribbean: ancient rainforests, world-class wildlife encounters, vibrant communities, and a tourism experience deeply rooted in place.
