International fashion model Samory Christopher is seeking to become a Creative Ambassador for Antigua and Barbuda as he continues to build a career on the global fashion scene.

Christopher made the request during a courtesy call with the country’s Minister of Sports and Creative Industries Dwayne George on August 11.

Christopher, who is based in New York City, has walked the runway at New York Fashion Week for several international brands.

In a social media post, George said Christopher indicated that as the only male Antiguan and Barbudan national currently pursuing a career in fashion internationally, he would be honoured to represent the country as a Creative Ambassador if his request is approved.

George congratulated Christopher on his achievements and acknowledged the role creatives can play in promoting Antigua and Barbuda internationally.

“Anyone who wishes to use their work and platform to promote Antigua and Barbuda is an ambassador in their own right,” George said.

However, the minister explained that Christopher’s request would first have to be presented to Cabinet for consideration before a decision could be made.

George assured Christopher that the request would be advanced at the earliest opportunity and wished him continued success.

Christopher left Antigua and Barbuda on August 11 after taking part in the island’s Carnival celebrations.
