Trinidad and Tobago international goalkeeper Simone Eligon has joined Queens Park Rangers (QPR) Women ahead of the new FA Women’s National League season.

The 25-year-old moves to QPR after spending the past two seasons with Chatham Town, another Step 4 club.

Born in south London, Eligon began her development with Chelsea and Charlton before moving to the United States, where she combined football with studying for a degree at Yale University.

Now back in London, Eligon said she is looking forward to joining Karl Watson’s QPR side as they target promotion.

“It feels really good to be here. I’m excited to get started,” she said.

Eligon said she has been encouraged by the team’s shared ambitions and believes her playing style will fit into Watson’s approach.

“I like to be aggressive, I like to affect the ball early on,” she said. “I think that’s what Karl wants as well, for us to be an attacking and organised team that will go for other teams.”

The Trinidad and Tobago international also believes her experience in high-pressure situations can help her make an impact in goal.

“I’ve been in a lot of pressure situations, and I’ve been able to keep a calm head. So I hope I can keep that calmness at the back and keep clean sheets,” she said.

Eligon is set to make her debut on Sunday when QPR Women open their campaign against Luton Town Ladies at the SkyEx Community Stadium.

Kick-off is scheduled for 2 pm.

“It’s really fun to be at a historic club like QPR. The whole group and atmosphere has been great — I’m excited to be part of that,” Eligon said.
