Students in St Vincent and the Grenadines will have to wait a bit longer to learn who is the country’s top performer at the 2026 Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) as the government has decided to withhold releasing official results due to discrepancies affecting two schools which are being resolved with the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC).

Education Minister Phillip Jackson made the disclosure in the House of Assembly on August 27.

Jackson said the government discussed the issue internally before informing CXC, which is now working to rectify the discrepancies.

He said the decision was made to avoid releasing results that could later change and affect the ranking of schools.

“We thought it would have been premature to [release] those results with those discrepancies to the public and then it might change your ranking in schools, how schools do in comparison with each other,” Jackson said.

Jackson did not name the affected schools. 

The minister said the government will issue a media release once the discrepancies have been resolved and the final results are confirmed.

Students across the region were able to access their CSEC results on August 18.
