Trinidadian police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery of seven human cadavers being stored at a compound in Central Trinidad on Thursday, September 17, 2026.

The cadavers were discovered inside a refrigeration unit during an inspection by officers of the Multi-Agency Task Force (MATF) and personnel from the Environmental Management Authority (EMA).

The MATF had received a request from the EMA on Wednesday, September 16, to visit a location off the Uriah Butler Highway, south of Courts and adjacent to Conex Readymix Ltd.

At approximately 10:40 a.m. on Thursday, MATF officers and EMA personnel went to the location, where they met an individual who identified himself as the operator of an establishment on the compound.

The individual was informed of the EMA report and officers proceeded to inspect the premises.

During the inspection, they discovered seven human cadavers stored inside a refrigeration unit within a building on the compound.

The individual was asked to provide documentation relating to the identities of the deceased persons and the authority under which the cadavers were being kept at the location. However, he was unable at the time to produce the requested documentation.

Senior Superintendent Bhagwandeen of the Central Division was subsequently contacted and an investigator and Crime Scene Investigators were assigned to the matter.

Superintendent Persad of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations (HBI), Region Two, was also contacted and dispatched a team to the location.
