ST CROIX, US Virgin Islands — Police are probing the death of a man who was found unresponsive in the water of Lindbergh Bay Beach on Sunday morning.
Police said a concerned citizen contacted the Virgin Islands Port Authority (VIPA) about a possible body in the water at approximately 7:47 am.
A responding VIPA officer confirmed that it was a body and, with assistance from citizens on the shoreline, helped remove the man from the water.
Emergency medical personnel were called to the scene and later determined that the man had no signs of life.
The man’s identity and cause of death remain unknown.
An autopsy is pending to determine the circumstances surrounding his death.
