Four Antiguans have been recognised on King Charles III’s 2026 New Year Honours List for their contributions to philanthropy and public service.
Janey Elizabeth Howell was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the Civil Division for her philanthropic service to Antigua and Barbuda and the wider Commonwealth.
Dr Gabriella Poppy Valentine Howell was awarded a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE), also in the Civil Division, in recognition of her philanthropic work benefiting Antigua and Barbuda and the wider Commonwealth.
In addition, Assistant Commissioner of Police Desmond Dinard received the King’s Police Medal (KPM) for distinguished service within the Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda.
The New Year Honours List recognises individuals across the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth who have made significant contributions in public life, community service, and professional fields.
