ROSEAU, Dominica — Six overseas-based players are in line to make their senior international debuts after Dominica head coach Kurt Herd named a revamped 20-man squad for the country’s final two CONCACAF Nations League fixtures.

The new additions include goalkeeper Shamal George, defender Harvey-Joe Bertrand, midfielder Trevine Esprit and forwards Malachi Sharpe, Jayden Carbon and Theo Jeremy.

Herd said the changes were intended to give the Bouyon Boys more options and improve their attacking threat as they look to finish their League B campaign with positive results.

“We’ve changed things a little bit. On and off the field we’re going to shake things up, and we’ll see that with the squad that we’re going to select,” he said.

Among the new faces is George, who plays for English club Bromley. Herd said he had been monitoring the goalkeeper for some time before reaching an agreement with both the player and his club.

“I’m delighted to finally get everything agreed with the club and the player to bring him into the international scene,” Herd said.

George will compete for a place alongside 17-year-old Dwight Eloi, whom Herd described as a promising young goalkeeper.

Bertrand, who joins from Dorchester, adds versatility to the defence, with the ability to play at right-back, centre-back or wing-back.

In midfield, Esprit brings Canadian Premier League experience, something Herd believes will strengthen an area where the team needs greater depth.

“He’s an incredibly exciting player. He’s played in the Canadian Premier League. He’s been exposed to high-level football,” Herd said.

The attacking line sees three additions, led by Sharpe, a former Manchester United youth player who spent six years in the club’s system and represented Scotland at youth level.

The forward can operate on either wing or in a central attacking role, giving Herd additional options in the final third.

Carbon, who currently plays for Middlesbrough, has also featured in the Scottish Championship with Ross County.

Jeremy completes the new attacking group, having developed in the youth systems of Plymouth Argyle, Aston Villa and Bristol City before moving into professional football with Gibraltar’s Europa Point.

Several established players have also retained or regained their places.

Dhamario Challenger returns after missing the previous international window through injury, while Tobi Jno Hope remains in the squad following his senior debut in the last window.

Donte Warrington also returns, while Reon Cuffy keeps his place after scoring two of Dominica’s three goals during Herd’s first seven matches in charge.

Marcus Bredas will captain the team for the two fixtures, which will both take place in Guyana.

Dominica face Puerto Rico on November 13 before meeting the Cayman Islands on November 17.
