Terri Lyons has successfully defended her crown as Calypso Queen of the Caribbean, capturing the Delta Petroleum Queen of Queens – Regional Female Calypso Competition in Montserrat on December 29.

The Trinidadian calypsonian, who chose to perform last in both rounds of the competition, made it clear she had no intention of relinquishing her title. Lyons delivered commanding performances of “Blessings” in the first round and “I Am Lion” in the second, holding the Carnival City audience spellbound.

Judges awarded her a combined 985 points, securing her fourth consecutive Queen of Queens title.

Lyons first claimed the crown in 2022 after unseating fellow Trinidadian Karene Asche and has remained unbeaten since.

She took home the top prize of US$7,000.

Second place went to Geve “Ge’Eve” Phillip of Antigua and Barbuda, who earned 947 points for her performances of “One Man” and “Daughter Come.”

Phillip received a cash prize of US$4,000.

Completing the top three was Trinidadian Roselyn Hayes, who finished with 888 points.

Her performances included the song “Sing It in Kaiso,” earning her a prize of US$3,000 and rounding out a strong showing for the birthplace of calypso.

Also competing on the night were Joy Stout of Dominica; Sheviyona “Blessings” Thomas, Maggie D, and Nyota “Black Pearl” Mulcare of Montserrat; Jenille “Super Star” Simon of Grenada; and Natalie Charles, known as Empress Lyric, of Nevis.
