An early morning shooting in New Providence on January 11 has pushed The Bahamas’ murder toll to two.
The Royal Bahamas Police Force (RBPF) reported that the victim, a 35-year-old man, was at a residence on Adelaide Road when a man known to him called him outside.
RBPF Press Liaison Sheria King said the two men became involved in an argument, during which the suspect drew a firearm and began shooting.
The victim managed to run back inside the residence, where he later succumbed to his injuries, police said.
The suspect fled the scene.
King urged anyone with information that may assist police with their investigation to come forward.
Meanwhile, The Bahamas’ first murder of the year involved a 50-year-old man who was found dead at a motel on January 9.
Police said the man had recently checked into the motel and was discovered unresponsive by a housekeeper who entered the room to clean it.
He had sustained multiple stab wounds.
Police have not disclosed a motive for the killing.
