Senior officials of Trinidad and Tobago’s Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries met with executives of energy company Perenco on January 14 to receive updates on the company’s recent acquisitions and ongoing operations on the twin-island country.

The meeting was held at the Ministry’s International Waterfront Complex head office in Port of Spain and was attended by Energy and Energy Industries Minister Dr Roodal Moonilal, Minister in the Ministry Ernesto Kesar, acting Permanent Secretary Karinsa Tulsie, and Chief Technical Officer Marc Rudder.

Perenco was represented by its Chief Executive Officer Armel Simondin, General Manager Stephane Barc, Head of Business Development Denis Chatelan, and Business Advisor Allan Russell.

In a statement, the ministry said during the discussions, the ministers were briefed on Perenco’s recent acquisition of the Greater Angostura oil and gas assets and associated production facilities. 

Updates were also provided on the performance of the company’s existing operations, including the Cashima, Amherstia, Flamboyant and Immortelle (CAFI) gas fields.

Executives also outlined plans for development of the Onyx field, located in the Teak, Samaan and Poui (TSP) area. 

The talks focused on operational performance, opportunities to improve efficiency, and collaborative initiatives aimed at sustaining and expanding investment in the local energy sector.

Moonilal reiterated the Government’s support for Perenco’s efforts to extend the productive life of mature oil and gas fields while maintaining an environment conducive to continued investment in the energy industry.

Perenco, for its part, reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries as current projects progress and as new opportunities arise within Trinidad and Tobago’s energy sector.
