Trinidad and Tobago’s Energy Minister, Dr Roodal Moonilal, has signed agreements with Perenco Trinidad and Tobago Limited aimed at advancing the development of mature oil and gas assets offshore.
The agreements, signed on 10 April 2026 at the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries’ head office, amend the existing Production Sharing Contracts for Blocks 2(c) and 3(a).
The move comes one month after the National Gas Company and Perenco finalised three upstream gas supply agreements linked to production from Blocks 2(c), 3(a), and the Teak, Samaan and Poui (TSP) fields.
According to the ministry, the amendments are designed to accelerate the revitalisation of the two offshore blocks, which contain mature hydrocarbon fields along Trinidad’s north-east coast.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Moonilal said the government remains committed to extending the life of ageing oil and gas fields through collaboration with industry partners.
He added that increasing production from these fields will support the wider energy sector by feeding additional volumes into the country’s hydrocarbon value chain.
Several senior officials and representatives from both the government and Perenco attended the ceremony, including Minister in the Ministry of Energy Ernesto Kesar, acting Permanent Secretary Ava Mahabir-Dass, and Perenco General Manager Stephane Barc.
