Energy Minister Dr Roodal Moonilal met with executives from state energy companies and Chevron Corporation on Monday as discussions continued on potential investment opportunities in Trinidad and Tobago’s energy sector.
The meeting, held at the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries headquarters at the International Waterfront Complex, also included Minister in the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries Ernesto Kesar, acting permanent secretaries Karinsa Tulsie and Ava Mahabir-Dass, and senior ministry officials.
Representatives from Heritage Petroleum Company Limited, Paria Fuel Trading Company Limited and Guaracara Refining Company Limited were also present.
According to the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries, the talks focused on infrastructure rehabilitation, supply and trading opportunities as part of ongoing discussions on investment prospects in the country.
Chevron executives Andrew Stead and Nicole Oakes joined the meeting virtually and highlighted the company’s existing commercial partnerships with Heritage and Paria. The company also indicated its willingness to explore additional opportunities for strategic collaboration in Trinidad and Tobago.
The ministry said Moonilal welcomed the continued engagement between the government, state energy companies and Chevron, while reiterating the government’s commitment to supporting the sustainable development of the energy sector.
The minister also stressed the importance of closer alignment between the state and private sector in pursuit of national economic objectives.
