Brandy and Monica

US R&B stars Brandy and Monica have been announced as headline acts for the closing night of this year’s Saint Lucia Jazz and Arts Festival.

Festival organisers announced their addition to the cast as anticipation builds for the annual event, which will feature a mix of local, regional and international performers.

Brandy and Monica are currently co-headlining their successful The Boy Is Mine Tour, inspired by their 1998 chart-topping duet of the same name, which became one of the biggest R&B hits of its era.

Brandy, often referred to as the “Vocal Bible,” rose to international fame in the 1990s with hits including “I Wanna Be Down,” “Baby,” “Have You Ever?” and “Almost Doesn’t Count.”

Monica also enjoyed major success during the same period, delivering chart favourites such as “Don’t Take It Personal (Just One of Dem Days),” “Angel of Mine,” “Before You Walk Out of My Life,” and “So Gone.”

Billy Ocean, the Trinidad-born hitmaker behind classics like “Caribbean Queen,” “Get Outta My Dreams, Get into My Car,” and “Suddenly”, is also set to perform on the festival’s closing night, adding further star power to the event.

Their addition strengthens an already packed line-up for the festival, which will also feature Kes the Band, Tems, Ella Mai, Capleton, Valiant, Asa Banton, Dexta Daps, The Original Wailers featuring Al Anderson and Skip Marley.

The Saint Lucia Jazz and Arts Festival is scheduled to run from April 30 to May 9, with each night featuring a different headliner and musical theme.
