Former Real Housewives of Atlanta (RHOA) star Kandi Burruss traded the red carpet for the road as she joined thousands of revellers for Saint Lucia Carnival.

The 50-year-old actress, singer and entrepreneur took to the streets with Legends Carnival Band, sharing photos and videos of herself in costume as she soaked up the atmosphere during one of the Caribbean’s biggest festivals.

“She’s ready to mash up di road! Thanks for getting the team and I right!” Burruss wrote in an Instagram post.

Burruss had been counting down to the trip for weeks. In a post on July 9, she revealed that she had been invited by Saint Lucia Carnival officials to experience the festival for the first time.

To get ready for the road, the Grammy Award-winning member of R&B group Xscape took wining lessons with dance instructor Chantal Maurice.

“I am sooooo excited! It’s gonna be a movie!!!! Thank you @travelsaintlucia. Thank you to my dance instructor @chantalmauricedotcom & everyone who danced with me to help me get ready!” she wrote.

She was joined on the trip by her longtime friend Carmon Cambrice, along with Michelle Falconer, Monyetta Shaw-Carter and Morris Marable. The group also took part in J’ouvert celebrations ahead of Carnival Monday.

Although this was her first time experiencing Saint Lucia Carnival, Burruss is no stranger to Caribbean carnival. In 2019, she joined fellow RHOA cast members at the Toronto Caribbean Carnival, where former cast member Tanya Sam introduced the group to the traditions of playing mas.
