Kymani Hector-Kalloo and Marcus McDonald are the new Junior Soca Monarch champions in Trinidad and Tobago.

Hector-Kalloo, who performs under the name Yung Kymani, amassed 423 points to win the primary schools category. He delivered a performance of his song Link Up, which he co-wrote with his mother and Nigel Lopez.

The St Peter’s RC Primary School student outshone 10 other contestants to capture the coveted title.

Amayah Wallace-Aniebonam of CTS College Online Primary School placed second with 408 points, while Xhaiden Darius of Savonetta Private School finished third with 407 points.

Positions four to 10 were taken by Omari McDonald, Aijah-Marie Williams, Azavier Charles, Alexia Adams Alexis, Josiah Wallace, Liam Wellington and Adianka Andrews.

In the secondary schools category, Marcus McDonald of Presentation College, San Fernando, dominated the competition with his performance of Rampage.

He secured the title with 445 points.

Zachary Ransome, also of Presentation College, San Fernando, placed second with 424 points, while D’Ashe Saul of Bishop’s High School, Tobago, finished third with 422 points.

Jalessa Lazarus, Darion McDonald, Iennesha Baily, Takiyana Frederick, Joshua Duprey, Raylan Green, Synara Lee and Nathaniel Camejo rounded out positions four to 11.
