A Surinamese man has been arrested after officers seized a quantity of suspected ketamine during an anti-narcotics exercise in Trinidad.
The operation was carried out by officers attached to the Port of Spain Division on February 21, 2026, between 10 am and 3 pm, following intelligence about a person allegedly in possession of narcotics at a hotel along the Eastern Main Road in Arouca.
Around 10:40 am, officers went to the location and were granted access to a room occupied by the suspect. After identifying themselves and informing the occupant of the information received, police conducted a search of a blue suitcase inside the room.
During the search, officers found three transparent plastic bags containing what is believed to be Ketamine. The items were concealed inside a pillow.
The suspect, identified as a male foreign national, was cautioned and arrested on suspicion of possession of a dangerous drug.
He was taken to the Besson Street Police Station along with the seized items.
Investigations are ongoing.
