Tourism Corporation Bonaire (TCB) has released preliminary tourism data showing that the island welcomed 18,606 stay-over visitors in January 2026.

The figure represents a marginal increase of 0.04 per cent compared to January 2025, when 18,598 visitors were recorded.

Visitors from the Netherlands accounted for the largest share of arrivals at 48.4 per cent, with 9,004 visitors. The United States followed as the second-largest market, contributing 26.9 per cent of arrivals, or 5,000 visitors.

Other source markets included Curaçao with 1,432 visitors (7.7 per cent), Canada with 938 (5 per cent), Germany with 311 (1.7 per cent), Aruba with 239 (1.3 per cent), Belgium with 206 (1.1 per cent), Colombia with 135 (0.7 per cent), the United Kingdom with 134 (0.7 per cent), Brazil with 118 (0.6 per cent) and Switzerland with 113 (0.6 per cent).

US visitors primarily travelled with a partner, followed by those travelling alone. The main reasons for travel were vacation (52.4 per cent), diving (35.9 per cent) and visiting friends and family (3.1 per cent).

Accommodation preferences included hotels (48.7 per cent), villas (16.2 per cent), apartments (8.5 per cent), their own property (6.4 per cent) and staying with relatives (5.8 per cent).

Most US visitors originated from Florida, New York, California, Texas and North Carolina. The largest age segments were travellers aged 65 and over (29.6 per cent) and those aged 55-64 (27.7 per cent).

Dutch visitors mainly travelled with a partner, followed by solo travellers. Most came for vacation (72.1 per cent), visiting friends and family (9.6 per cent) and business (5.3 per cent).

Accommodation choices included hotels (46.4 per cent), apartments (16.9 per cent), staying with relatives (10.4 per cent), villas (7.1 per cent) and their own property (4.5 per cent).

The majority of Dutch visitors came from North Holland, South Holland, Gelderland, North Brabant and Utrecht. The largest age groups were 55-64 (26.7 per cent) and 25-34 (16.9 per cent).
