Guyana has expressed solidarity with the countries attacked by Iran on February 28, describing the strikes as unprovoked and unjustified.
Iran fired rockets at neighbouring states, targeting US military bases following a joint US-Israeli military operation dubbed Operation Epic Fury.
More than 100 Iranians were reportedly killed, including the country’s leader, Ali Khamenei, in the military action.
US President Donald Trump said the joint attacks were aimed at “eliminating imminent threats from the Iranian regime.”
In a video message, Trump urged Iranians to rise up against what he described as a dictatorial regime.
“When we are finished, take over your government. It will be yours to take. This will be probably your only chance for generations,” he said
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation said the unprovoked attack by Iran on the Kingdom of Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait was unjustified and in breach of international law.
It condemned the strikes on the sovereign states and called on all parties to de-escalate in the interest of peace and stability in the region.
“The Government of Guyana reiterates the need for the sustained pursuit of lasting peace and stability for the Middle East,” the statement said, adding that Guyana expresses full solidarity with the governments and peoples of Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait, and condemns all actions by Iran in attacking those countries.
