A Bahamian boat captain died following a boating accident in Exuma, Bahamas late on March 19.

Police said the incident occurred shortly before 11:50 pm when a 20-foot vessel carrying three men — two United Statescitizens and one Bahamian — ran aground along a rocky shoreline near Rolle Cay.

According to preliminary reports, the captain was ejected from the vessel during the incident and later found unresponsive in the water.

Officers responded and transported the injured man, who showed visible signs of trauma, to the George Town Dock. He was initially examined by a local physician before being transferred to the Exuma Healthcare Facility for further treatment.

However, despite efforts to save his life, he was pronounced dead at 2:23 pm.

The two American passengers were also evaluated by a doctor and sustained minor, non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said the body of the deceased will be transported to New Providence for formal identification and a post-mortem examination.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
