United Airlines will launch a new nonstop service between Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) and Henry E Rohlsen Airport (STX) on St Croix.
The service is set to begin on October 31.
The Virgin Islands Port Authority (VIPA) said the route will operate weekly on Saturdays with a Boeing 737-700 aircraft
“United’s Newark-St Croix service is a significant win for St. Croix,” said VIPA Executive Director Ava Penn.
“It expands access to a major United States market, supports tourism and business activity, and makes travel easier for our residents and Virgin Islanders living in the US.”
USVI Commissioner of Tourism Jennifer Matarangas-King said: “United Airlines’ new nonstop service from Newark to St Croix marks an exciting step in our continued efforts to expand air connectivity to the US Virgin Islands. The New York metropolitan area remains a key market for our destination, and this new route creates greater opportunities for travelers to experience St Croix’s rich culture, history, and natural beauty. We thank United Airlines for its continued investment in our islands and look forward to welcoming more visitors to St Croix.”
VIPA said the route complements United Airlines’ existing service between Newark and ST Thomas, giving travellers more flexibility when planning multi-island itineraries while supporting the Territory’s broader efforts to expand airlift and improve accessibility throughout the US Virgin Islands.
