A 41-year-old man is the US Virgin Islands’ latest homicide victim, bringing the territory’s 2026 murder toll to seven.
Police said Emmett Bramble was fatally shot on Monday evening in the Sunny Isles area of St. Croix.
According to authorities, the 911 Emergency Call Center received alerts from the ShotSpotter detection system around 7:05 pm, indicating multiple rounds of gunfire.
Several residents also called in reports of shots being fired and a man lying on the ground near the Gas for Less service station in Estate Diamond.
Officers responding to the scene found Bramble lying on the western side of the gas station with multiple gunshot wounds.
Emergency Medical Technicians transported him to the Juan F Luis Hospital, where he later died.
Police said Bramble was positively identified by a family member.
The Criminal Investigation Bureau has launched a probe into the killing and is urging anyone with information to come forward.
