A 45-year-old US citizen has been charged with drug trafficking in Grenada after police said they seized 78 pounds of cannabis from her luggage at Maurice Bishop International Airport.

Police identified the woman as Malikah Bailey

Bailey, a businesswoman, was arrested and charged following an operation at the airport on Sunday, August 23. Police said a search of her luggage led to the discovery of the cannabis, which has an estimated street value of EC$702,000.

She appeared at the St George’s No. 1 Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, August 25, and was remanded to His Majesty’s Prison.

Bailey is due back in court on September 3, 2026.
