Antigua and Barbuda is moving to bring in international observers ahead of its next general election, with Prime Minister Gaston Browne formally inviting teams from key regional and international bodies.
In near-identical letters, Browne wrote to Shirley Botchwey of the Commonwealth Secretariat and Albert Ramdin of the Organisation of American States, requesting observer missions to monitor the polls.
He said the government would welcome the presence of the observers and assured that all “customary facilities and courtesies” would be extended to them.
While the election date has not yet been announced, Browne has said it will be revealed on April 7.
