The FIFA-appointed normalisation committee has begun its work in Montserrat, carrying out its first official visit as it moves to oversee the island’s football administration.

The committee was installed on January 31, 2026, to manage the affairs of the Montserrat Football Association following what FIFA described as an exceptional situation. 

It will serve as the association’s executive body until January 31, 2027.

Its main responsibilities include running the day-to-day operations of football on the island and organising elections for a new executive.

The four-member committee is chaired by John Krishnadath and includes Oliver Smith, Hervé Blanchard and Ytannia Wiggins.

During the visit, the delegation was joined by officials from FIFA and Concacaf as part of efforts to support the restructuring of football governance in Montserrat.

The visit focused on assessing the association’s financial position, governance structure and the broader football landscape, while also engaging with stakeholders. Meetings were held with government representatives, the MFA secretariat and other partners involved in football on the island.

As part of immediate measures to strengthen administration, the committee appointed Thandie Williams as acting general secretary of the association.

The committee said it is working to restore confidence in the sport’s governance, improve financial management and create conditions for the long-term development of football in Montserrat.

The visit marks the start of what officials described as a structured process aimed at stabilising and rebuilding the game locally, with further updates expected as the committee continues its work.
