Arrest

A Trinidad and Tobago national has been extradited to the United States more than a decade after allegedly fleeing armed robbery charges in Maryland.

Kervon Noel was handed over to US authorities on April 21 to face two counts of armed robbery and conspiracy, stemming from a 2014 case.

If convicted, he could face up to 20 years in prison for each armed robbery charge.

According to details released, a warrant for Noel’s arrest was issued in Maryland in November 2014.

He was later granted bond and ordered to appear in court in December of that year, but failed to do so after leaving the United States for Trinidad and Tobago.

US authorities formally requested his extradition in January 2026.

Noel was subsequently arrested in Port of Spain on February 11 at the request of US law enforcement.

He later consented to extradition, and on April 13, Trinidad and Tobago’s Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs, John Jeremie, signed the warrant authorising his removal to the United States.

Noel was escorted from Port of Spain to the U.S. by members of the US Marshals Service, along with agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Diplomatic Security Service.

The extradition involved coordination between several agencies in both countries, including U.S. and Trinidad and Tobago law enforcement and border authorities.

In a statement, US Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Dr Jenifer Neidhart de Ortiz described the extradition as a reflection of close cooperation between the two countries, highlighting ongoing joint efforts to ensure that individuals facing serious charges are brought before the courts.

“This successful extradition exemplifies the strength and excellence of American law enforcement working hand-in-hand with our Trinidad and Tobago partners. Our collaborative efforts demonstrate the power of productive diplomacy in action, consistently delivering tangible results that protect our citizens and uphold the rule of law. By removing dangerous criminals from our streets and ensuring they face justice, we showcase what can be achieved when two nations unite with shared commitment and purpose. The United States is proud of this partnership and looks forward to building even stronger ties as we continue our vital work together to keep our communities safe,” she said.
