The Cayman Islands recorded its highest monthly visitor arrivals on record in March 2026, with more than 64,000 stayover visitors, according to the Department of Tourism.

Officials said 64,213 stayover visitors arrived during the month, marking the first time the destination has surpassed the 60,000 mark in a single month.

Total arrivals, including cruise passengers, reached 221,731, representing a 12.6 per cent increase compared with March 2025.

The strong performance caps what authorities described as the destination’s best winter season on record, with 215,165 stayover visitors between December and March. That period included a record December and January, along with one of the strongest February performances to date.

Tourism officials said growth in March was driven by multiple markets, with double-digit increases recorded from Canada, the United Kingdom and Ireland, Mexico and Argentina, alongside steady gains from the United States and continental Europe.

Deputy Premier and Tourism Minister Gary Rutty said the results reflect the strength of the Cayman Islands’ tourism strategy.

“This record-breaking winter season underscores the strength of the Cayman Islands’ tourism strategy and the resilience of our destination,” Rutty said.

Canada emerged as one of the fastest-growing markets, with 6,711 visitors in March — a 49 per cent increase year on year — supported by expanded airlift and new routes.

Arrivals from the United States, the destination’s largest market, also reached a record 53,050 visitors, surpassing previous highs recorded in 2019.

Officials said increased airlift from major cities in the US, Canada and the UK continued to support demand, with overall inbound capacity rising by nearly six per cent compared with the same period last year.

Tourism authorities also pointed to strong performance in the accommodation sector, with hotel occupancy, average daily rates and revenue per available room all increasing in March.

Director of Tourism Rosa Harris said the results reflect sustained marketing and industry efforts, adding that the focus will now shift to maintaining momentum into the summer season.

“Achieving the best month ever and strongest winter for stayover visitation in the history of Cayman Islands Tourism reflects the effectiveness of our data-driven marketing and engagement efforts,” she said.

Officials said tourism remains a key driver of economic activity in the Cayman Islands.
