Jamaica will host the second edition of the Caribbean Tourism Organisation Air Connectivity Summit in 2027 as regional leaders continue pushing for stronger air links across the Caribbean.
Jamaica’s Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett announced the development on May 14 during the country’s presentation at the Caribbean Travel Marketplace in Antigua and Barbuda.
The summit is scheduled to take place in Kingston on February 23, 2027.
Bartlett said hosting the summit was a strategic opportunity for Jamaica.
“Jamaica will use that as a means not only to bring our airline partners together but also to engage in some celebration, some thinking, some discoursing around the future of air connectivity which is so important,” Bartlett said.
The minister said the summit comes at a critical time as global geopolitical tensions continue to affect international aviation and travel patterns.
He also noted that the event will take place one week after Global Tourism Resilience Day, an initiative spearheaded by Jamaica that focuses on strengthening the tourism sector against global disruptions.
The first Air Connectivity Summit was hosted in Bermuda on February 24 under the theme “Integrating Aviation and Regional Tourism Development.”
The one-day summit focused on improving regional air access, supporting sustainable route development and aligning aviation strategies with tourism growth across the Caribbean.
Participants also discussed new partnerships and practical solutions to shared airlift challenges facing the region.
