The Government of St Kitts and Nevis has moved to reassure consumers that there has been no approved increase in the price of basic bread, commonly referred to as “dollar bread.”
In a statement, the government said it has not authorised any adjustment to the price of the staple item and warned that bakeries and other relevant businesses should continue selling it at existing prices.
Officials stressed that any proposed increase would first require consultation with, and approval from, the relevant authorities, including the National Cost-of-Living Task Force.
The statement comes amid concerns about the cost of living and the potential impact that higher food prices could have on households.
The government said it remains committed to protecting consumers from unjustified price increases and will continue to closely monitor the situation.
