Police in The Bahamas are investigating the death of a 69-year-old US national who was found in waters off New Providence on June 10.

According to the Royal Bahamas Police Force, officers received reports shortly after 3 pm that a man had drowned in waters off West Bay Street.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found that the man had already been retrieved from the water and his body was covered on the shoreline.

The body was later removed and taken for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

Police have not released the identity of the man and have not provided any further details as investigations continue.
