Police in The Bahamas are investigating the apparent drowning of a 63-year-old American man whose body was pulled from a swimming pool at a business establishment on last evening.

Police said the man’s body was discovered shortly before 7pm.

When police and Emergency Medical Services personnel arrived, they found two women performing CPR on the man, who was lying on the pool deck dressed in black swim trunks.

Despite efforts to revive him, EMS personnel determined that he was showing no signs of life.
A local doctor later examined him and pronounced him dead shortly after 9 pm.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the man had been swimming when he suddenly became motionless in the water.

His fiancée reportedly noticed that he was no longer moving and repeatedly called out to him, but received no response.

She then entered the pool and, with the help of other people at the scene, pulled him from the water before CPR was started while emergency responders were on their way.

Police have not released the man’s identity.
An autopsy has been ordered to determine the exact cause of death.
