K2K Alliance will not participate in Trinidad and Tobago’s Carnival next year, as the six-time Medium Band of the Year winners turn their attention to a new international creative venture connecting the Caribbean and Asia.
The decision marks a new chapter for the mas band, founded by twin sisters Karen and Kathy Norman.
Instead of competing in Carnival 2027, K2K will focus on Caribbean × Asia, a multi-year cultural collaboration aimed at showcasing Caribbean creativity alongside Asian artistry and innovation.
The initiative, which begins in Seoul, South Korea, will bring together elements of mas, fashion, film, music, technology, artificial intelligence and storytelling to create new opportunities within the global creative economy.
K2K said the project is designed to go beyond a single event, creating a platform for cultural exchange, investment and collaboration between two regions through what it describes as a “geography of imagination” where tradition and innovation meet.
At the centre of Caribbean × Asia will be creative experiences exploring “emotional architecture, cinematic encounters and cultural choreography”, combining the visual storytelling of mas with emerging technologies and global creative industries.
Further details, including the flagship location, partnerships and opportunities for creatives and brands to participate, are expected to be announced in the coming months.
