St Lucia crowned two new soca champions on July 10, with Ezra D’Funmachine capturing his second Power Soca Monarch title and Kisha Kay making history as the island’s first-ever female Groovy Soca Monarch.

Ezra edged out a tightly contested Power Soca Monarch final by a single point, finishing with 384 points to secure the crown for the second time.

Shemmy J placed second with 383 points, followed by Bobo and Samo with 361 points, while Sedale, Deevon and Hollywood HP finished fourth with 344 points.

In the Groovy Soca Monarch competition, Kisha Kay finished with 388 points to claim the EC$40,000 first prize.

Deevon was a close second with 387 points and received EC$30,000, while Imran Nerdy placed third with 385 points to earn EC$20,000. 

Arthur Allain finished fourth with 368 points, taking home EC$15,000.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Commerce, Investment, Creative Industries, Culture and Heritage, Ernest Hilaire, congratulated the winners, noting the significant achievements by women during this year’s carnival competitions.

“Amongst all the Monarchs this year, Ezra D Fun Machine is the lone male,” Hilaire said.

He congratulated the women who captured three of the four national monarch titles, describing their victories as “more than personal achievements.”

“They are a celebration of the talent, determination, and creative brilliance of Saint Lucian women,” he said.

Hilaire added that, after the challenges women have faced in recent years, their success was a proof to their resilience.

“They continue to break barriers, inspire generations, and elevate our culture with grace and confidence.”

He also thanked every woman who participated in this year’s competitions, saying their achievements were helping to shape “a stronger, more vibrant Saint Lucia.”
