Angostura is expanding its presence in India through a new strategic partnership with premium spirits importer and distributor Monika Alcobev Limited.

Under the agreement, Monika Alcobev will oversee the import, distribution and marketing of Angostura’s portfolio across key Indian markets, beginning with Maharashtra and Delhi before expanding into other states.

The initial product range will include Angostura 5-Year-Old Rum, Angostura Aromatic Bitters and Angostura Orange Bitters.

The partnership will establish an official distribution route for the Trinidad and Tobago-based brand, which has long been used by bartenders in India but has had limited availability through formal channels.

Angostura Chief Executive Officer Ian Forbes said the collaboration was about more than expanding the company’s global distribution network.

“This partnership represents more than expanding our global distribution. It is about positioning Angostura as a premium lifestyle brand in India,” Forbes said.

“We see significant opportunities to work closely with bartenders, mixologists, retailers and hospitality partners to showcase the versatility and quality that have made Angostura respected around the world.”

Monika Alcobev Managing Director Kunal Patel said Indian consumers were showing growing interest in authentic international brands with strong histories, craftsmanship and links to the evolving cocktail culture.

“”Angostura carries a rare combination of heritage, credibility, and enduring relevance within the international spirits community,” Patel stated.

He said the partnership aligned with the company’s long-term strategy of developing premium categories and building a sustained market presence.

The collaboration comes as India’s premium spirits market continues to see increased interest in craft cocktails, international labels and higher-end drinking experiences.

Monika Alcobev said it plans to use its distribution network to expand Angostura’s presence across bars, restaurants, retail outlets and hospitality destinations.

The company currently represents more than 100 international brands across India and neighbouring South Asian markets, with a portfolio that includes tequila, whisky, gin, rum, wines and liqueurs.

Founded in 1824, Angostura is internationally known for its aromatic bitters and award-winning rum portfolio. The company’s products are exported to markets around the world and are widely used in cocktail culture.
