Dominica’s Addison James secured a historic bronze medal for the island at the 2026 World Athletics U20 Championships at Hayward Field in Oregon.

Competing in the javelin, James threw 73.89 metres to finish third and claim the bronze medal.

The achievement marks the first time Dominica has won a medal at the World Athletics U20 Championships.

James’ throw is also set a new national under-20 record.
