US Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau will visit Trinidad and Tobago and Guyana from August 9 to 12 for talks on energy, security and economic cooperation.

Trinidad and Tobago’s Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs said Landau will be in Trinidad and Tobago from August 9 to 10, with Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar leading discussions during his official visit.

The ministry said the visit reflects progress in deepening Trinidad and Tobago’s partnership with the United States and creating practical opportunities from the relationship.

“The Prime Minister and Government remain focused on ensuring that cooperation with the United States delivers meaningful and lasting benefits for the people of Trinidad and Tobago,” the ministry said.

He will then travel to Guyana, where he is scheduled to meet President Mohammed Irfaan Ali and members of his Cabinet.

His discussions in Guyana will focus on expanding bilateral economic cooperation and investment, including collaboration in strategic sectors such as energy and critical minerals.

The US State Department said the regional visit reflects Washington’s commitment to strengthening partnerships across the hemisphere.
